Writing Role-Play Games I believe the imagination is like a muscle: If you don't use it, you lose it. Thus, apart from other creative pursuits, I also enjoy roleplay-games. Not the geeky, glasses-wearing nerds clustered around a darkened table throwing dice, but rather more a collaborative writing effort. In this type of roleplay game (oftem also called a "SIM" or "PBeM"), you take on the mantle of one or more characters, and write from their point of view. Each character has their own history and personality - they can be quite detailled. Unlike other games, the aim is not to "win", but to write your character as best you can - some games even give honours and rewards to players for things like relevance of posting, creativity, and how active the player is. I do not run any games, but I participate. You can find out more information on my links page. |
